Getting Started

Welcome to the Bed Presence MK1 Getting Started guide. This page will walk you through everything you need to get your sensor up and running, from connecting it to your WiFi and smart home platform to installing it on your bed. Whether you’re a first-time user or an advanced hobbyist, this guide provides step-by-step instructions, helpful tips, and links to additional resources.

By the end of this guide, you’ll have your Bed Presence MK1 fully provisioned, integrated with your home automation system, and calibrated for accurate detection.

What You'll Need

  • Bed Presence Mk1
  • Universal Mounting Kit (if needed)
  • USB power supply and USB-C cable
    • 5V @ 500mA
  • 2.4Ghz WiFi

Provisioning

  1. Connect the device to a power supply.
  2. On your phone or computer, connect to the temporary WiFi network (e.g. bed-presence-xxxxxx).
  3. If your device prompts you to "stay connected", tap Yes.
  4. Open a web browser and navigate to http://192.168.4.1.
  5. Select the WiFi network you want the device to join, enter its password, and tap Save.
    • The ESP will now try to connect to the network...but it will not provide confirmation.
    • Continue to Platform Setup

If you are using Home Assistant and have a Bluetooth Proxy, simply connect power to the device and continue to Platform Setup.
